You have entered a camp but there is something amiss. There are no nylon tents, propane stoves or Tiki torches. In- stead what you see are ivory smoke stained tents made of canvas. The smell of campfire smoke drifts through the air and the sound of music can be heard from somewhere nearby, and the people around you are wearing clothing you haven‘t seen since you last opened a history book.

Historic Time Line again a success (This is an excerpt as printed in the Democrat News on Wednesday April 16, 2008)
Another Historic Time Line has passed and despite the harsh weather it was once again a success. Thursday brought strong storms and tornado warnings to the area. Friday and Saturday we were hit with unseasonably cold weather. Sunday we faced more heavy rain causing standing water in the park as the ground was saturated. A decision was made Sunday morning to cancel Sunday's events for the safety of the participants and visitors. We also wanted to minimize the impact on the park. There was six states represented this year. They came from Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, Kentucky, Iowa, and Wisconsin. There were a total of 35 Camps this year down somewhat from last year due to poor weather and flooding. Also there were another 53 day demonstrators, food vendors, cars, tractors, etc, for a total of 88. Last year we had a total of 96, not too bad considering the weather. We estimated that approximately 1000 people walked through the event Saturday. The following people were winners of the raffle drawing, Matt Varmum won the small set of cooking irons donated by Franklin Forge, the $25.00 Gift Certificate donated by Carr House Antiques of Caledonia and the Knife donated by Devin Mikuleza of Black Bear Haversack Trading Post. Cecile Tuller won the Cowboy set of cooking Irons donated by Franklin Forge and the Grandma basket donated by Mary Manning in memory of Frankie Rosener. Lauren Boland won the toy basket donated by Mary Manning in memory of Frankie Rosener. John Boone won the gun-powder donated by the Historic Time-line Committee and the flower basket donated by Mary Manning in memory of Frankie Rosener. Bob Boland won the painting donated by Bobbie Jo Johnson of Twisted Art Vine, Dan Bullock won the powder horn, ball bag and shooting bag donated by Kevin Mikuleza of Black Bear Haversack trading Post. Ruth Ann Skaggs won the Small basket donated by woven Together Caskets. Becky Grey won the $100.00 Wedding gown gift certificate donated by Second Thoughts Resale Shop. Madison County Sheltered Workshop won two jars of pure honey donated by Laura, Abbey and Libby Money of Moon-Bee Honey. We were able this year to raise enough money to buy the Madison County Sheltered Workshop a Husqvarna 48" cut, hydrostatic drive lawn tractor with a 23 hp Briggs and Straton engine from Madison County Farm Supply, Inc. This was a very much needed piece of equipment as they are now maintaining their own grounds.
We are already beginning preparations for nest year's event. The dates will be March 28 & 29 2009. For all of your questions and comments please contact us. Fill out the form below or call.
